Workshop Manager

About the Role:
Coastal Services is currently seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to join our high performing team. Our workshop is based near Port Taranaki. The role comes with a competitive salary, company vehicle, phone & other benefits.
Working alongside the management team, this position requires you to take responsibility and support the execution and delivery of workshop service & projects. Working across diverse business areas, you will use your experience and knowledge to overcome problems to ensure jobs are delivered on time and on budget while meeting the quality and HSEQ expectations required by Coastal Services and its clients.
Coming into a well-organised and established team, you will lead Supervisors, Leading Hands, Tradesmen, and Apprentices (30 staff+) in the execution of your duties.
You will be seen as a key member of our Leadership Team and provide clear direction to your workshop staff. Your role will be autonomous and require you to build excellent relationships with clients that will foster future work for the company.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Managing jobs, coordinating resources, and organising workflow in the workshop including job scheduling and labour allocation.
Supervising staff and apprentices to ensure that jobs are progressing and staying within specified budgets.
Customer communication, managing customer expectations, complaints, questions and concerns.
Reporting on job progress, and promptly identifying and communicating any delays or issues with clients & other management staff.
Ensuring all health and safety procedures are followed, and that any hazards are dealt with in a timely manner.
Assisting with project management, materials purchasing, and quality checks.
Managing inwards goods, checking quantities. Organising the dispatch of goods including completed jobs.
To be successful in this position, you will have:
Relevant trade engineering experience & qualifications.
Proven experience leading and managing a team.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
An awareness of the health & safety legislation and compliance requirements.
Proficient computer skills.
An extensive engineering workshop background.
Problem Solving ability.
Able to multitask and work under pressure.
Accuracy & attention to detail
