Te āheinga - The opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Stormwater Dam and Renewals Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role involves providing operational technical support for the management, operation, and maintenance of the community's stormwater network and flood control systems. Additionally, you will oversee the renewals for the Three Waters infrastructure, ensuring effective planning and execution of projects to maintain and improve our water systems.

Tino takohanga - Key responsibilities:

- Ensure monitoring, asset condition assessment and maintenance of the stormwater and flood control network is undertaken (e.g. dam inspections)
- Prepare prioritised reticulation renewal work programmes and maintenance schedules using risk assessment methodologies
- Undertake renewals and relining rehabilitation of pipelines
- Undertake investigation of asset condition including CCTV to determine renewal programme
- Identify and draft project scopes and business cases for stormwater and flood control projects
- Maintain the integrity of asset data in the Enterprise Asset Management system and assist in the maintenance of stormwater catchment management plans to ensure they are kept up to date and information on actual flooding events and network performance is captured
- Manage contingency and response plans including dam break response planning
- Responding to complex customer enquiries and flooding incidents (can be out of hours) and cover for Reticulation Engineering Officer when on leave
- Provide operational technical advice to Asset Operations, Projects and management teams

- Actively ensure that legislative requirements and Council policies and procedures are fulfilled, particularly in relation to all key relevant legislation
Ngā tino pūkenga me ngā wheako - Essential skills and experience:

- Bachelor of Engineering or NZ Certificate or Diploma in Civil or related engineering
- Relevant experience in overseeing the construction, operation and/or maintenance of stormwater and/or flood protection assets
- Able to understand and read CCTV footage to rate asset condition
- Full Motor vehicle driver's licence
