Te āheinga - The opportunity

We are seeking a diligent and responsible Parking Officer to join our team. This role is essential in managing parking spaces throughout New Plymouth and surrounding districts, ensuring compliance with parking regulations, and contributing to the overall safety and accessibility of our city. Primarily the work is outdoors regardless of weather conditions. A good deal of the work will be conducted between 8am to 6pm Monday to Saturday. At times there is a need to be available during events which often are held during weekends, on public holidays and after 6pm.

Tino takohanga - Key responsibilities:

- Actively ensure that legislative requirements and Council policies and procedures are fulfilled, particularly in relation to all key relevant legislation
- Function as an Ambassador of New Plymouth City when conducting traffic regulation and other enforcement duties
- Maintain consistent and safe parking controls in the central business area and other urban streets throughout the New Plymouth district
- Ensure residents and visitors receive exceptional service in terms of where to park and how to get to their destination

Ngā tino pūkenga me ngā wheako - Essential skills and experience:

- Driver's licence
- Knowledge of traffic legislation and relevant Council bylaws
- Conflict resolution skills
- Confident using technology to complete tasks on a daily basis
- Monitoring and enforcement of stationary traffic infringements
