We are looking for an Environmental Data Officer to join our Environmental Data team at the Taranaki Regional Council. This position is permanent full-time.

Mō te tūnga - About the role

We are seeking a suitably qualified and/or experienced person to join our Environmental Data team. This position involves the collection, processing and quality assurance of surface water and meteorological data, which supports the management of water resources across Taranaki. The successful applicant will be involved in the installation and maintenance of environmental monitoring equipment, including the Council's regional automated monitoring networks.

This role sits within the Science and Technology team and you will receive support from the Environmental Data Team Leader and the wider Environment Quality department.

Mōu - About you

This role requires a varied skillset. You will need to be a practical problem solver, have knowledge of basic telemetry systems, an aptitude for quality data, exceptional attention to detail, data processing skills and strong computer literacy. While a tertiary qualification in a relevant scientific/engineering field is desirable, those with practical experience in electronics and/or instrumentation are also invited to apply.

The council is a busy environment where you will need to be versatile, resourceful and have exceptional interpersonal and organisational skills. Data management skills and a can do attitude are essential, as is a full driver's licence.
