An exciting opportunity has opened up to join our Investment team as a Data Insights and Reporting Analyst.
This position is a permanent part time 0.6 FTE, 24 hours per week. The salary range is $80,000 - $100,000 pro rata per annum, and based in New Plymouth.
Reporting to the GM Investment/Deputy Chief Executive, the Data Insights and Reporting Analyst is responsible for collecting and analysing data, crafting insightful narratives about Taranaki’s economic and social landscape, and ensuring all reporting aligns with VT’s performance framework and shareholder requirements.
Key responsibilities include working closely with both internal teams and external stakeholders, providing valuable intelligence that informs regional strategies, emphasising data-driven stories through tools such as Taranaki Trends and the Regional Intelligence website.

Data Insights, Project Support, and Reporting:
Data Analysis and Reporting: Lead data initiatives to generate impactful insights, oversee timely reporting for VT, district councils, and other stakeholders, and produce quarterly reports that showcase VT’s regional impact.
Reporting Cycle Management: Coordinate reporting schedules, maintain templates and tools aligned with strategic goals, and develop narratives that reflect regional progress.
Project Support: Support cross-functional projects with research, analysis, and customised reports that summarise regional and district-level data, delivering accessible insights for both internal teams and external stakeholders.
2. Regional Intelligence and Communication:
Data Collection and Analysis: Gather and interpret data on regional and national economic indicators to inform strategies and community interests, coordinating data procurement and surveys to produce insightful reports.
Stakeholder Support and Data Requests: Handle data requests from internal and external parties, providing tailored insights that support strategic storytelling and project needs. Collaborate with VT’s Investment, Economic Development, and Destination teams to provide data that supports regional strategy.
3. General Responsibilities:
Culture and Values: Promote a collaborative, positive workplace culture, support VT’s commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi partnerships and Māori cultural competency, and represent VT’s values.
Resource and Time Management: Use business resources responsibly, manage tasks to focus on high-impact work, and maintain flexibility in responding to changing needs.
Health and Safety: Uphold safety standards to foster a secure work environment.

Education and Experience: Experience in data analysis, reporting, communications, or business intelligence roles.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in data tools such as Excel, Power BI, Tableau, SQL, and familiarity with CRM systems and economic reporting standards.
Analytical and Narrative Skills: Strong analytical skills to synthesise data into clear insights, with excellent communication skills for narrative-driven reports.
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work collaboratively across teams and demonstrate cultural competency and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi partnerships.
Organisational Skills: Highly organised, adaptable, proactive, and focused on continuous improvement in reporting processes.
