This is a rare opportunity to join our high-performing Communications and Marketing Team on a fixed-term basis as a Communications and Marketing Adviser.

This is a full-time, 35 hours per week, fixed-term role until June 2026.

Are you a dynamic and skilled communicator with a passion for strategic marketing and communication? Venture Taranaki/Te Puna Umanga is seeking a talented individual to join our Destination team which includes the Communications and Marketing, as well as Visitor and Tourism functions as a Communications and Marketing Adviser.

Venture Taranaki/Te Puna Umanga is at the forefront of economic development and investment initiatives, and our Communications and Marketing function plays a pivotal role in planning and executing a diverse range of promotion activities to support all areas of the business.

As a key member of our team, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to the success of Venture Taranaki and the region by providing smart and sustainable communications and marketing support.

Specifically, this role has an emphasis on delivering marketing campaigns within the Destination team to support visitor attraction and to promote the regional brand ‘Taranaki Like No Other’, as well as delivering communications support across the Economic Development team function, including our flagship business growth and development programme - PowerUp.

You will be an adept copywriter with abilities to craft written communications for various channels and audiences, and will have previous experience developing and implementing strategic communications and marketing plans, with proven experience seeing campaigns and communication initiatives from development through to delivery and reporting.

Ngā kawenga matua / Key responsibilities
Development and execution of communications and marketing plans that support the organisation to achieve outcomes and KPIs, including campaign activity and promotional partnerships.
Development of written content for a wide range of channels and audiences.
Supporting across social media channels, including content development as required.
Distributing media releases and monitoring their uptake, with the support of the Communications and Marketing Manager.
Management of image/footage libraries, responding to image requests and the management copyright and licensing across BrandKit.
Drafting and distribution of electronic newsletters and communications, as required.
Contributing to the writing, editing, content and, production of promotional material.
Ensuring Taranaki is always presented in a favourable light, and that all communications and marketing activity is within brand guidelines.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako / Skills and experience
A relevant tertiary qualification in Marketing or Communications preferred

Previous experience working in a specialist communication and/or marketing role, ideally 3+ years
A track-record of developing and delivering creative communications and marketing activity to an agreed strategic comms plan
Adept written communications and copywriting abilities across diverse channels
A sound knowledge of comms and media tools, including an understanding of and previous experience using social media, EDM systems, and marketing automation tools.
The ability to develop comms and marketing plans and strategies.
The ability to use initiative and sound judgment in decision-making process
The ability to juggle and manage multiple priorities in a busy, fast-paced, and deadline-driven workplace while maintaining your cool
