Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated Farm Assistant to support our Livestock – Broiler Management & Maintenance operations. Reporting to the Farm Manager, the Farm Assistant will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient functioning of our farm. The primary focus will be on the proper shed management, maintenance, and the growth of Broiler meat chickens in alignment with set standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Monitor and manage Broiler chicken growth according to predefined plans, focusing on optimal weight for age, feed conversion, and meeting processing plant requirements.

Maintain and manage equipment, buildings, and grounds, ensuring cleanliness, weed control, and overall tidiness.

Regularly check and maintain records of bird welfare, health, and livestock husbandry practices.

Collaborate with Farm Manager to sustain quality standards and ensure compliance with health, hygiene, and operational procedures.

Liaise with external stakeholders such as Tegel Broiler Advisors, Planners, and Contractors for optimal farm performance and maintenance activities.

Requirements:

Biosecurity awareness and implementation.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Technical proficiency and analytical ability.

Proficiency in basic engineering and mechanical skills would be an advantage.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Prior experience in livestock management would be an advantage.

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Strong commitment to animal welfare.

Flexibility to work varying hours, including nighttime supervision as needed.

Must be capable of working a 45 hour week as per roster

Physically fit and willing to undertake a pre-employment medical check.

Willing to undergo a pre-employment drug test.

Able to work in New Zealand.

Preferred Qualifications:

Computer literacy.

Understanding of Health & Safety protocols.
